Wineries
Our elaborations are made in the oldest winery in the Appellation Navarra. Located south of the Pamplona basin, and in the middle of the Way of Saint James, where the route from Baja Navarre merges with that from Aragon. History, tradition and new techniques come together in our winery.
Our winery is designed to make superior quality wines. Controlling each process from the entry of the grape into the winery, later fermentation and final ageing in French and American oak barrels.
All this work is developed with the experience and extensive trajectory of more than 130 years of work that supports us.
Reino de Altuzarra
Village of bucolic landscapes is es Altuzarra. Old high in Basque, today Altuzarra is uninhabited. Acquired by the family’s grandfather and still owned by it, the remains of Altuzarra are in the mountainous heart of La Rioja. Even uninhabited, you can see the old farmhouses crossed by the river. Surrounded by vineyards, Altuzarra is our kingdom of wine and our inspiration.
Winemakers
Victor and David Fernández de Manzanos are now the fifth generation of a family dedicated to wine. More than 125 years devoted body and soul to what they do best, growing vines and making great wines. Born and raised in the most enological atmosphere, their lives are marked by the winery. Lives rooted in land of wine. The search for the most exclusive terroirs, the choice of the best vines, the selection of the best grapes, and the supervision of each elaboration, it is their objective. All this to be able to share with us his passion, wine. Transmitted generation after generation.
Viñedos
Our vineyards in DO Navarra have an exceptional climate and soils for the production of high quality wines. Our plots are distributed in different municipal terms, which allows us to explore the qualities of each terroir and its singularities. Always carrying out a sustainable viticulture with respect for our environment. Our small farms are specially selected for each type of wine.
Terroir
The confluence of the Atlantic, continental and Mediterranean climates, due to the proximity of the Cantabrian Sea, the influence of the Pyrenees and the proximity of the Ebro valley make up an exceptional situation for the cultivation of our vineyards. One of the main characteristics that define our vineyards in Navarra is the great diversity of landscapes and climates, finding all kinds of cultivation situations such as slopes, banks, plateaus or plains. Soils as diverse as clays, limestones, silts and even pebbles converge on our plots. All this, together with our vineyards conducted in gobelet and trellis system, build an ideal ecosystem for the development of our vineyards.
Grape varieties
Reds: Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Sauvignon, Graciano, Merlot, Mazuelo, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Tempranillo.
White wines: Chardonnay, Garnacha Blanca, Sauvignon Blanc, Viura, Malvasía and Muscatel de Grano Menudo.
